The tip is, try to lift a weight of the pulling strength you want to use for fishing and build your leaders and put them to the test. Hook the weight up and try to lift this. If you have a scale, you can use it to see what your breaking strength is. You will see that any knot will weaken your line. Normally you have to calculate a loss off 20 %.

Be careful because when the line breaks, the hook will spring away and may hit you in the eye.
